Larry Carlton – Jazz, Blues & Pop Guitar Music Legend

Jazz guitar player Larry Carlton began to play the guitar at the age of six. He soon developed a strong interest in jazz and even at an early age was influenced by solo jazz guitar greats such as Barney Kessel, Joe Pass. Wes Montgomery and Johnny Smith. As he went into his teens Carlton became influenced by a wide variety of other guitar styles. At the age of sixteen he became interested in the blues guitar styles of B.B. King, Albert Collins and Robben Ford.

Larry Carlton started playing with several important artists, including George Shearing and the Fifth Dimension, while receiving formal jazz guitar instruction at Long Beach State University in the late nineteen sixties. In late 1969 he became musical director for the NBC children’s program. His exposure on this show made the Los Angeles studios aware of Carlton’s talent and he soon became one of the busiest studio guitarists in that area. At the same time he became a member of the “Jazz Crusaders”, recording thirteen albums with them from 1971 to 1976. Carlton also toured throughout the USA and internationally with this popular group.

As a sideman in the studios his guitar work can be heard on the recordings of a multitude of top stars including Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, Joni Mitchell, Diana Ross, Steely Dan, Michael Jackson, Linda Ronstadt, Art Garfunkel and Glen Campbell. He received a Grammy Award in 1981 for his performance on the theme music of the television programme “Hill Street Blues”.

In 1976 Carlton decided to spend less time in the studios and concentrate on developing his own career as a jazz rock guitar player and vocalist. He built a studio in his house and made many of his recordings for Warner Brothers there. He recorded exclusively for Warners from 1978 to 1983. In 1985 he signed for MCA. This new association gave Carlton a wider audience outside of the jazz field. In 1988 he was shot by an intruder at his home and was incapacitated for months. Carlton fortunately recovered and is now once again fully active as one of the USA’s most distinctive and influential guitarists

Learn How to Sing Better by Singing from Your Diaphragm!

Learning how to sing from your diaphragm is one of the most important techniques that you can learn when it comes to singing well. I have attached a video to this message so that you can get a visual idea of what it looks like and what it takes to be able to sing from your diaphragm. Singing from your diaphragm mostly has to do with your posture. As he will explain in the video, you also have to take full breaths and let your expansion from the inhalation happen in to sides of the ribs and in the stomach more so than the chest. Give the video I watch and even leave a comment if you want because he will get back to you as soon as he can. Good luck to you, and make sure that you get his concept down of singing from the diaphragm, as it is most important.

Know How to Play the Bass

One of the best ways of knowing how to play the bass is listening to music. You can not be able to play the bass if you do not have the faintest idea of what a rhythm is. If it is possible for you to join a group of people who plays different instruments, then it can be very easy for you to develop your own rhythm. A rhythm guides you on how you are going to strike the strings and create even tones.

If it is your first time to play the bass, then you should make sure that the instrument that you buy is a four stringed bass guitar. Try out the strings using three fingers first and ensure that your nails are trim. The first days of plucking the strings can leave your fingers sore and it is advisable that you use bass picks. A metronome can be of great help when starting up your lessons, so it is advisable that you buy one and make use of it.

The Educational Concert

Music Music For Bassoon appears to be a wide open field that the younger composer might want to explore. Bassoonists crave new literature. They are, however, are discriminating group which is made of professional people who can spot the real thing from something less well conceived. For the younger composer, it is wise to study bassoon literature and to consult with advanced players. Virtuoso bassoon performers eagerly await the next excellent sonata or concerto. Attempting to compose a concerto presents other unique problems. It is not easy to secure performances of bassoon concerto performances by American orchestra. This is true partially because the bassoon does not have the visual capturing character of piano, or harp, or violin performances. That is not to say that it cannot be done, but advance planning is necessary if a composer hopes to get that first performance. It is wise for young composers to get to know assistant conductors who might schedule a bassoon concerto movement for an educational concert.

Turning Back the Clock

It has often been said that these days’ kids are listening to their parents’ music and that the generation of today is not very good at creating the timeless classics of year gone by. I tend to agree with this sentiment. The fact is that most songs nowadays are just bubble gum tracks that come and go after a week or two of airplay and a few renditions by disc jockeys to sweating patrons in clubs. From RnB to classic rock, people continue to attempt to turn back the hands of time, when true creative genius lived and artists used to really know what they were doing. I really am sad that I sound like my father but a fact is a fact and the truth is classic rock music and most other forms of music that were popular in the1980s are making a come back and the increasing popularity is a sign of the brilliance of the music.

Tha Main Purpose of Transformerless Circuitry in a Microphone

There are different kinds of microphones. The most popular type includes the condenser microphones, dynamic microphone and carbon microphone. Each of this mikes have different features that are built specifically for a certain application.

The TLM 103 Shockmount is a microphone that has a transformerless circuitry. This microphone does not rely on transformers to help capture and amplify input sounds. One of the benefits of a transformerless circuitry is low power requirement. This will result to lesser electric bills and lesser risks to electric hazards. But the main reason why Neumann used a transformerless circuitry for the TLM 103 Shockmount is to have a balanced output sounds.

A balanced output sound is an example of a high quality sound. When these sounds are transmitted through speakers, you will immediately notice clarity. You also won’t hear self-noise and other sound distortions that can affect the way you comprehend voice messages being reproduced through the mike.
