A Review of the Jungleboys
A couple of weeks ago when I was hanging out with my girlfriend we both watched jungleboys for the first time. It was an off the wall comedy type of show that had a lot of hilarious, albeit farfetched sketches. Being a twenty three year old male, I thought a lot of the plot was hilarious while my girlfriend seemed to think quite the opposite. I do not think that the show was supposed to be for women though, and I would watch it again if the opportunity presents itself. There are a lot of shows like jungleboys already, although the new cast of characters is a breath of fresh air. I would be surprised if the show is cancelled anytime soon because it seems to have a large following on social media sites such as twitter and facebook. Larry Carlton – Jazz, Blues & Pop Guitar Music Legend
Jazz guitar player Larry Carlton began to play the guitar at the age of six. He soon developed a strong interest in jazz and even at an early age was influenced by solo jazz guitar greats such as Barney Kessel, Joe Pass. Wes Montgomery and Johnny Smith. As he went into his teens Carlton became influenced by a wide variety of other guitar styles. At the age of sixteen he became interested in the blues guitar styles of B.B. King, Albert Collins and Robben Ford.
Larry Carlton started playing with several important artists, including George Shearing and the Fifth Dimension, while receiving formal jazz guitar instruction at Long Beach State University in the late nineteen sixties. In late 1969 he became musical director for the NBC children’s program. His exposure on this show made the Los Angeles studios aware of Carlton’s talent and he soon became one of the busiest studio guitarists in that area. At the same time he became a member of the “Jazz Crusaders”, recording thirteen albums with them from 1971 to 1976. Carlton also toured throughout the USA and internationally with this popular group.
As a sideman in the studios his guitar work can be heard on the recordings of a multitude of top stars including Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, Joni Mitchell, Diana Ross, Steely Dan, Michael Jackson, Linda Ronstadt, Art Garfunkel and Glen Campbell. He received a Grammy Award in 1981 for his performance on the theme music of the television programme “Hill Street Blues”.
In 1976 Carlton decided to spend less time in the studios and concentrate on developing his own career as a jazz rock guitar player and vocalist. He built a studio in his house and made many of his recordings for Warner Brothers there. He recorded exclusively for Warners from 1978 to 1983. In 1985 he signed for MCA. This new association gave Carlton a wider audience outside of the jazz field. In 1988 he was shot by an intruder at his home and was incapacitated for months. Carlton fortunately recovered and is now once again fully active as one of the USA’s most distinctive and influential guitarists

Catchup TV Has All of the Major Networks
Now that I have seen Catchup TV I am really happy that I have found one website where I can view all of the streaming content from the major Australian television networks. It is great to be able to view past episodes of my favourite shows but I am a bit disapointed that shows like Air Crash Investigators are not available on there. It is the fault of the network that screens it though and it probably becasue they do not have permission to stream the content online. There are quite a few different comments on there from people requesting for this show to be available so I am not the only one who feels this way. Perhaps if the networks could come to agreements with the producers we would have a fully fledged streaming media system but I won’t hold too much hope that this will happen any time soon.
